NENYOS was formed in 1963 by orchid lovers in the greater Albany, New York area who were
interested in growing, studying and enjoying orchids of all types.
Our members love and grow all kinds of orchids on window sills, under lights,
in greenhouses, backyards and even in the wild.
Annual membership is only $15 Single/$20 Family. Dues are paid in December before the beginning of the calendar year.
New members may send checks and membership info to:

NENYOS meetings are generally scheduled for the first or second Saturday of every month. They are currently
held in the Stedman Room of the William K. Sanford Town Library
in Colonie, NY.

Monthly Meetings:
Members start gathering about 1:30 PM for setting up plant displays, looking at each others'
plants and socializing over light refreshments, with the formal meeting beginning at 2 PM.
Most meetings include an illustrated lecture given by an expert invited from around the country.
The talks are generally broad enough for everyone, with a sprinkling of items of particular interest
for the specialist.
Our meeting have included talks on these topics: - Selecting Orchids for the Beginner
- Growing Orchids under Lights
- Choice Orchids for the Windowsill
- The Best of the Bulbophyllums
- Bifoliate Cattleyas

The meetings also include a beginner's forum where beginners can ask specific questions of the more
experienced growers in the club.
At each meeting, we have show tables set up to display our members' blooming plants for all to enjoy.
Dozens of plants are on display each month, from species to complex hybrids, all in magnificent bloom.
Plants range in size from miniatures to large plants with 2'-3' sprays of blooms. At the end of the
formal meeting, an experienced grower will discuss each plant and some of the culture.
At most meetings, there is a sales table where members offer plants for sale, many times at bargain
prices. You'll find seedlings and divisions as well as mature plants. Sometimes visiting guest
speakers may have plants and growing supplies for sale.
Special activities include an annual auction, a holiday party, a mid-winter luncheon, a picnic, as
well as sponsored bus trips to orchid shows in New York and Boston.
